I reckon you should have a dog if you have a back yard. I live in apartment and I learned my lesson really quick. Dogs need room to run around and poop.
the folks in this section will vote for cats overwhelmingly.
although you can dance with your dog,
and take the dog for rides in the car and to the park
cats dont generally travel well
and my daughter in law dances with the cat but as soon as possible the cat will bolt all owl eyed and hide.
so cats don’t generally dance well either.
but they are fantastic pets…
cats are adorable, especially the one with fluffy fur, if you intend to adopt a cat, you can go to 88db website for list of cats to adopt, you can find dogs too
A cat definatley. They are so simple to handle, and they can take care of themselves much more than dogs do. A huge plus is that you don’t have to go outside and pick up their crap! So, I would definatley go with a cat!!
Depends on your lifestyle and what you want out of a pet…
But I must say that cats are WAY lower maintenance, and allow for a more flexible life schedule. You can go out or go on vacation on a whim without having to worry about who will take care of the dog, etc. (they make vacation feeders and waterers! yay!). And if the weather is cruddy, you can stay inside where it’s warm and dry with your cat on your lap instead of walking your dog in the cold rain at 5 in the morning. If you’re just tired and want to veg one day, cats are cool with that, whereas dogs are more apt to be in your face wanting you to walk them or play with them. And did I mention that they clean themselves too, and basically don’t smell at all?
Both have their merits, but I must say that cats are ideal for busy people because there’s just overall less time/effort required.
I like both dogs and cats and intend to get a dog sometime in the future, but cats are perfect for my lifestyle right now. Something to consider
I would most certainly say a dog! Proud momma of two doggies! But I guess it depends on what you want and what your lifestyle accomodates. For me, cats are too temperamental.
I can place my puppies in a crate for 5 minutes or an entire day, and when I let him and her out they still shower me with kisses. They like you unconditionally as long as you take proper care of them. They will cool and cuddle when you are sad but they will run and play when you are pleased….they are very keen on human emotions and are incredible companions.
I have a decent sized apartment, and I have two large dogs, they get to go outside and play though about 3 or 4 times a day. It depends on your commitment and how much work you want to place into taking care of your animal!
If you want a pet that is simple to care for, a cat would be excellent. If you provide fresh food and water daily, a clean litter box, some toys to play with and a window to delight in the happenings outside, a cat would be pleased.
A dog if kept in the house, would need to be let outside to relieve him/herself or walked. He/she will needs fresh food and water daily and some toys. If it is a large dog, then you would need a dog house and area to run for him/her.
Both will need human companionship. If you like outdoor activities a dog will be excellent to take along with you. But if you or the other members of your household work very long hours or are away frequently for business or personal travel, it would not be a excellent thought to get a pet of any kind now.
Both need veterinary care. The first year for either a cat or dog means the kitten/puppy wellness vaccinations, deworming and spay/neuter. The next several years if there are no health problems, you will just have the vaccination boosters (including rabies), teeth cleanings, and baths/grooming. Once the cat or dog reaches about 7-8 years of age, you may start have age related illnesses. My suggestion is to look into pet insurance if you get your cat or dog when they are young.
I have attached links below with estimated lifetime (14 years) expenses of owning a cat and a dog. But not only the financial costs, you need to be sure you are ready to dedicate time and like to this pet for many years to come.
If you are home a lot, a dog but if not, a cat. A cat becuase they will still luff you but don’t mind being alone
Cat.People who are dog-lovers have low self-esteem.
Whatever you do, get them FIXED!!!!
