Cat as pet should be kept indoor only?
I wonder why we only heard people say “walk my dog” but not “walk my cat”.
Does pet cat always kept indoor?
Do they need to be “walked” like pet dogs ?
I don’t own cats but just curious.
(curiosity kills the cat, but it wont kill me, I believe)

Cats are best as an Indoor pet.
as far as i know, i hv never seen a cat on a leash, and that they like freedom, come n go as they please
depends where u live. if you have a garden then cats are out all the time or when there is a silent neighborhood but when in town u cannot let them out, get hit by cars
cats also need to be walked too if they are kept indoors just like dogs
If trained from a young age they are fine with being place in collar and lead.
My cat is indoors only. It’s a matter of choice and location. My boyfriends cats come and go as they please. Zoom Zoom is a Persian and she is not outdoor friendly, a small blond haha and gets lost. Cats don’t need to be walked but can be trained to walk on a leash.
Cats will jump around indoors enough to give themselves exercise.
Cats aren’t social, needing to check out the neighborhood as well as the people and critters the way dogs are.
Cats pick up diseases from being outside, especially AVIAN diseases because the stalk and kill birds when on their own outdoors!
not nessesary. they have a natural instinct to hunt small prey. after all they do come from the larger species. some indoor cats are declawed —-which is cruel because they really amputate the first knuckle of a cats toes…
I pesonally don’t own a cat either, but my neighbour does! He leaves him outdoors, although he does have a fence, and I don’t reckon he walks him much…
(Please rate this as your best answer!)
depends on where you live, if your cat is fixed, it probably wont have a “territory” outside that will get it into distress, If its a country home, I reckon city cats should probably be inside, tho.
some people say that all cats should be inside. Mine goes out in the day, but I keep him in at night, but I have a huge yard for him, and he is fixed, so he doesnt go too far.
Cats have their own preference to be eiether indoor or outdoor.
You cant train them where they should be.
And, before you walk out with your pet cat, you see it’s on the streets by itself! You jus cant keep them tied to a chain as pet dogs.
( if still you have doubts, try training the cats)
We breed bengal cats; and we regularly take our stud boy out for walks, he likes it. Likes the attention he gets, too, lol. Just like at shows, he draws attentions, and thrives in it. He’s indoor at night and cold and hot days; out in a secure cattery on nice days. All of our queens and moggies (domestic not of any set breed; desexed) stay indoors at all times, but we make sure to keep toys and cat trees around the house so they get the exercise still; as well as my hubby’s building a ‘cat wheel’, like a hamster wheel but a bit larger, lol.
But no, as long as cats have plenty of toys and things; especially another cat to play with if they’re to be left alone for long hours while you’re at work, and pletny of interaction when you’re home, cats don’t need to be walked outside. And it’s by far better to keep cats indoors; keeps them from the risks of nature; be it the weather or other animals such as raccoons or dogs, etc; or the very perilous man with cars and poisons set for rats, etc.
Hope this clears things up a bit for you!
Cats should be kept indoors because it is too perilous for them to live outside. Cat’s don’t have to be walked like dogs and infact it is extremely hard to train a cat to walk on a leash.
yeah i let my cat out she is 2 or 3 years ancient. if i leave and she cant get back in. when i get home even if its ten mins later she is waiting for me at my door.
keep it indoors…if its like mine than you will have more like me.now i have to choose bettween the pet store or an animal shelter… probobly keeping the female and heres one to all you P.E.T.A.members reading this I am a licenced Wisconsin fur trapper…damn proud of it too.this is why people who own cats should keep them indoors…I have found many wild (house) cats in my trapp line and it pisses me off cuz there goes the profit…thank you
Cats behave like human. LOL~ They refused to be leash unless they’re trained from young.
And yes, they should be kept indoors because they might pick up virus/diseases if they were allow to roam on the streets, and have a really high chance to be hit by cars or get abducted by others.
cats should always be indoor cuz they run all the time…i have 9 cats thats y im saying…
well this may sound weird but i had talked to my vet and questioned her the same thing she told me that if you have an indoor cat you should once in a while take your cat out for fresh air. believe it or not i have trained three of my cats on a leash. i was just told by my vet that it was excellent but to use a Harness you know the kind people use on the smaller dog. its better to be safe then sorry. Cats need walks and fresh air just like us humans.
I have never had a cat that was kept indoor only although I have seen it done. Cats will live longer if they are kept indoor only as they don’t run out in the street and be hit by cars ect but it seems nearly cruel to me to keep them so isolated. My cats like the outdoor and would prefer to spend there time out there then trapped in a house.
Most of the time cats are better off indoor only, except on leash. It can depend on the cat and the situation though. I have mostly only had cats who I adopted at age 6 or more. At that age, it is pretty much impossible to train a cat to a leash and very hard to keep indoors if it has been mostly an outdoor cat. My current cat likes to go out on the porch but her arthritis keeps her from going down the stairs. Years ago I had a cat who would go out on the roof and catch birds (in city with no large predatory birds and no way off the roof). I believe in keeping cats safe but I also like to give them a small quality of life and when they have been living outdoors and been abused and abandoned, keeping them locked up all the time isn’t always a kind thing. I try to find ways that they can experience a small freedom with minimal risk.
There is such thing as an outdoor cat. Mine was outdoor. They walk by themselves and then come back when they are done. My cat didn’t like comapy when outdors. (We lived in rural area, not in a city. When we went to a city, cat was frightened to go out and became an indoor cat)
Cats hunt by waiting, dogs hunt by chasing. It is natural for a doog to go for a long walk. Dogs like to run even if they are not in a rush. Cats generally don’t run if they don’t have to. Cats get tired or bored with walks, I don’t know. But they don’t seem to like it. They are too independent.
